PRAYER DIARY

SEPTEMBER 2010

Wed 1: Our God is a great big God, thank him for us unfailing love for us every day and pray that we might trust him more and more.
Pray for the Guild rally at Inch this evening.
 
Thu 2: give thanks for opportunities Mr Kennedy has to visit local schools, pray for the staff and pupils at Park and Portpatrick as they begin another year, pray especially for new staff in these schools.
 
Fri 3: pray for Fred Drummond and the work of the Evangelical Alliance in Scotland, give thanks for Fred’s ministry around our nation.
Pray for Mr Kennedy attending the meeting of the Committee to Nominate the Moderator of the General Assembly in Edinburgh today.
 
Sat 4: give thanks for our JIGSAW and Creche, pray for the children and the leaders as they share together the good news of Jesus Christ as Lord week by week.
 
Sun 5: Give thanks to God for this great salvation he has achieved for us in the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Pray for those leading the service at St Ninians this morning, and for communion services at Portpatrick today.
 
Mon 6: pray for vacant congregations in our nation, and our Presbytery area: Kirkmaiden and Stoneykirk, ask God to provide ministers for those congregations. Pray for Mr Kennedy serving as Interim Moderator at Kirkmaiden and Stoneykirk.
 
Tue 7: give thanks for opportunities to meet together and study God’s word, pray for our mid-week meetings as we read in the book of Acts together.
Pray for the Presbytery of Wigtown and Stranraer meeting this evening.
 
Wed 8: give thanks for the work of SU in Scotland over the summer months, especially pray for all the young people who were at camps and holidays that they may find a local church where they may feel at home. Pray for SU groups in our schools and that more would be established.
 
Thu 9: pray for the work of CrossReach providing care for those in need is Scotland as part of the Church of Scotland, pray for all the staff serving in many different projects around Scotland.
 
Fri 10: pray for the work of the Scottish Bible Society as they seek to serve the word of God making Christ known in his word. Pray for Elaine Duncan the Chief Executive of the Scottish Bible Society.
 
Sat 11: give thanks to God that he speaks so clearly to us in his word, although written long ago still relevant and necessary for us today.
 
Sun 12: give thanks to God for Jesus who gave everything for us, his body broken and blood poured out. May God be with us as we celebrate the Lord’s Supper together today.
Pray for our services at 10.15, 2.30 and 6.30.
 
Mon 13: pray for our doctors and nurses and all the staff at our health centre, pray for those who work to care for us when in need.
Pray for the Board and Session meeting at Portpatrick today.
 
Tue 14: give thanks for the work of Tearfund supporting victims of HIV/AIDS in countries like Malawi where this virus adds to the burden of poverty.
Pray for Mr Kennedy speaking at Mochrum Guild this evening on his visit to Malawi.
 
Wed 15: pray for the Councils and committees of our national church and all the work that is done in 121 George Street.
 
Thu 16: pray for the youth Alpha group beginning in Stranraer Academy after school today, pray for the young people who will attend that they may hear the good news of Jesus for them.
 
Fri 17: pray for the Faith Mission Convention happening in Stranraer this weekend, pray for the speakers and singers and all who will attend.
 
Sat 18: give thanks that our God is a God of justice who will certainly do what is right, pray that this hope may teach us patience and endurance in the face of unjust suffering.
 
Sun 19: Our God is great God who has promised to comfort us in his grace through Jesus Christ his Son, give thanks and praise to our God for all his goodness to us.
 
Mon 20: give thanks to God for the provision of all we need day by day, especially for the generous giving of many to support the work of our congregation.
Pray for Mr Kennedy at a meeting of the Council of Assembly today.
 
Tue 21: give thanks for our Babies and Toddlers group meeting this morning and also on Thurday, pray for everyone who comes along.
 
Wed 22: remember to pray for Helen Scott our missionary partner in Malawi, pray for all the girls at the school and for all the other teachers and staff who serve at Ekwendeni Girls Secondary School.
 
Thu 23: pray for the Discipleship explored meetings which began last Thursday, pray for all who are coming along that we may be encouraged in our following Jesus as Lord.
 
Fri 24: pray about the effects of recent economic situations and the rise in prices, pray for wisdom for our national and international leaders as they work through this difficult time.
 
Sat 25: continue to pray for the goals of the MAKE POVERTY HISTORY campaign: trade justice, better aid, unpayable debt relief, pray that the leaders of our nations will make caring for the poor a priority.
 
Sun 26: give thanks for all who take part in our organist rota week by week, pray that our offering of praise when we worship together may be pleasing to our God.
 
Mon 27: continue to pray for the people of Pakistan, for the aid workers trying to help in this situation. Pray that God would bring the aid that is needy to those people in most need in this situation.
 
Tue 28: as our congregation: elders, board members and members meet together this evening for a vision evening pray that God would be present with us and give us his vision for the future of his work in our congregation.
 
Wed 29: pray that God would be at work in our nation by the power of his Holy Spirit, only the God who said ‘Let there be light’ can open the blind eyes and change the hard hearts of those who do not know him and acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord. Pray for times of revival in our nation.
 
Thu 30: give thanks for another harvest season and pray for our harvest supper on Saturday evening and our harvest thanksgiving on Sunday.
