FINDING FAITH
We understand faith to be the way we live because of what we believe.
We believe that there is one God who has made everything and who loves all that he has made, including you and me. God’s desire is that we should live together with him, enjoying his love and peace in our lives.
However, all people have rejected God and his love. We have chosen to try to make our own way through life, to decide for ourselves what is right and wrong. We have turned away from God. This is why so many people feel so alone, as though something were missing from life –it is, we are missing our Father and his love.
Because he loves us, God sent his Son Jesus to be our Lord and our Saviour, to open the way back to God. In his life Jesus lived perfectly within God’s love and displayed this to everyone he met. In his death on the cross Jesus bore the penalty for our rejection of God, he took away from us our sin and put it to death with him. In his resurrection Jesus demonstrated the victory of God over sin and in his new life reconciles men and women to God our Father that we might live together with him.
Now that Jesus has ascended to the glory of heaven, God has sent us his Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit makes God’s gift of faith come alive within us so that we can believe this gospel, that God is reconciled to us through Jesus Christ his Son. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that we can live as disciples of the Lord Jesus, serving him in our lives and knowing the reality of God’s love in our lives.
We regularly run a course called Christianity Explored which uses Mark’s gospel to help us get to know Jesus as our Lord and Saviour, you can find out when the next course is being run at our CE page. You might want to follow this link to view a presentation called Two Ways to Live which also covers these themes on finding faith.
