Visit of the Moderator
It was great to have the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev. William C. Hewitt, to lead us in worship on 18th October to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of St. Ninian's.
The message whi ch he brought to us will be remembered for a long time to come. It was also good to have aformer minister Rev Tom McGill in the congregation with us.
Three of our elders, John Cockburn, Tom McKail and Ian Paterson were presented with
Long Service Certificate marking more than 30 years service for each of them.A family lunch was served and we had an opportunity to meet the Moderator and Mrs Hewitt.
Altogether this was a memorable day in thenlife of St. Ninian's and we are grateful to Mr Kennedy for inviting the Moderator to be
with us.

125th Anniversary Celebration
On Sunday 18th October we were privileged to have Right Rev Bill Hewitt, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland lead our service of worship. The service celebated 125 years of the congregation of St Ninian's Parish Church, Stranraer. The service was very well attended by our own congregation; members of our linked church of Portpatrick also being present in good number, together with friends and visitors from other congregations.
Rev Gordon Kennedy welcomed everyone and after the opening praise, he invted the Moderator to present Long Service Certificates to three elders with over thirty years service - John Cockburn, Tom McKail and Ian Paterson. The Rev Oliver Ogilvy, who is a very welcome regular visitor at our services of worship was also presented to the Moderator. At the end of September it was 50 years since Rev Ogilvy's ordination.
It was a really blessed day with a warm and meaningful message from the Moderator.
At the end of the service an anniversary cake was cut by Mr Alex Murdoch, assisted by Hallie McClintock and a crystal block commemorating our 125th anniversary was presented to the Moderator, with a floral arrangement for Mrs Hewitt.
Over 100 people enjoyed a buffet lunch before a special event, with a real sense of God's presence, came to and end.

Faith Mission
Stranraer St Ninian's were once again deighted to afford the Faith Mission the use of our premises over the weekend of 18-20 September for their annual Stranraer Convention. The Faith Mission has had this association with our church for many years. The speaker for the three evenings was Rev Clive Tutty of Uddingston Church of The Nazarene. The Friday & Saturday evening metings were very well attended with somewhat fewer on the Sunday evening; probably due to services taking place. The preaching of God's word was thought provoking over the weekend and it was also good to hear from The Faith Mission's local contact, William Harrison on the ongoing work within the local area. We also heard from Paul Crowe on the work taking place in Wales and Gordon Bingham commented on the work he and his wife Helen are undertaking in Cumbria.
It was good to hear of what is taking place and to share with others. Please remember the ongoing work of the Faith Mission throughout the country in your Prayers.

As part of St Ninian's 125th Anniversary Celebrations, William Harrison of the aith Mission led our worship on Sunday 20th September at noon. It was good to have an opportunity to have yet another speaker with us duing our year of celebration and we thank God for the many opportunities we have had to share with others and to have an insight into th work being undertaken by the Faith Mission and on previous occasions we have heard of the Scottish Bible Society, Tear Fund and the Evangelical Alliance.

We now very much look forward to having the Moerator of the Church of Scotland with us on 18t October.

If you haven't yet popped into the prayer room to pray for so many living in poverty, please find an opportunity before 1st March. Prayer is so vital for those in need.
The prayer room has been an excellent facility this week.
